Dr. Stephen Beyer
Cardiff University
I am the Deputy Director of the Welsh Centre for Learning Disabilities at Cardiff University. I have been a researcher in the area of learning disability and services for about 25 years. I have been involved with the LDIAG since about 2006 and I am the Chairperson of the “Meaningful Lives” sub-group.
I think I was invited to be a part of LDIAG because I have been involved in researching supported employment to help people get jobs for about 15 years now and have written a lot on this topic. I am also very interested in helping young people with a learning disability to have better options when they leave school, particularly in having more access to employment. My wife and I have three children and we have recently become grandparents. My main hobby is underwater diving but I don’t get to do this as often as I would like!
