Practice Development Officer, Conwy Learning Disability team
My name is Cathy Roberts. I am currently a Practice Development Officer within Conwy Learning Disability team. My role involves managing a team of social workers who provide services for people with a learning disability. I am also involved in many aspects of planning and commissioning services for people with learning disabilities. I joined the group in 2009 primarily to ensure that the services we develop in Conwy are reflective of the needs identified by people with a learning disability. I began working for the local authority 22 years ago as an instructor in a day centre, then progressed to a social worker within older people’s teams, physical disability teams and learning disability teams. I have two children aged 19 and 16. I love going to the theatre and every year I direct the village pantomime, which is always great fun as I enjoy working with teenagers.
